Alice Rose Ahasic

Alice Rose Ahasic (Rose), 93 of Batavia passed away on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2021 in Batavia. Rose was born on November 21, 1927 in Elmhurst, IL, the daughter of Kathie (Katie) and Max O. Welz. She was a graduate of Wheaton Community High School. She married Jerome (Jerry) Ahasic on June 26, 1948. They were married sixty years. Rose is survived by two sons, Alan (Sandra) Ahasic and Thomas (Mary) and daughter-in-law Phillis Ahasic. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Emily Baez, Eric, Patrick, and Elena Ahasic, and Tristan, Megan, and Christopher Ahasic. She has seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Werner (Pat) Welz, sister-in-law Joyce Welz and Mary Ann Gorenz, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Rose was preceded in death by her son Stephan (Steve) Ahasic, brother Max O. Welz, and infant granddaughter Sarah Ahasic. Rose worked in various offices and was a homemaker. She was a brilliant cook and seamstress, she loved knitting, gardening, traveling (Europe, especially Germany, and Florida were favorites.) She enjoyed her cats, Oktoberfest, genealogy, reading, entertaining, and playing the piano. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Batavia where she had been an organist. She also volunteered at Delnor Hospital. Rose was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at the Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave. (Rt. 31) in Batavia. Funeral services will start with prayers at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, February 18, 2021 at the Moss Family Funeral Home, before proceeding to Holy Cross Catholic Church for Mass at 10:30 A.M. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery in Geneva.
