Memorial donations in Bernie’s name may be made to the Anderson Animal Shelter, 1000 S La Fox St, South Elgin, IL 60177, https://www.andersonanimalshelter.org. Our mom was an animal lover who would have rescued every animal in ever shelter if she could have. She lived her life selflessly giving to any and all animal charities. She was passionate about the dogs we did have; most recently Molly her constant companion, before that Diesel our beloved dachshund, her best friend Buddy, our trouble maker Draco and our very first pup, Mozart. Mom was an avid murder mystery reader and enjoyed the ones with animals in them the most. She would sometimes read a book a day and I believe single handedly kept Barnes & Nobel in Business. When she was finished with the books, she would donate them because everyone enjoyed a good mystery. She loved Gone with the Wind, court TV, Game shows of any kind and of course Animal Planet, Doctor Pol, and any show about animals. She loved going on vacations; she really enjoyed cruises but it had to be Disney, we cruised to the Bahamas several times and even cruised to Alaska but only because it was a Disney cruise. Her favorite part of that trip was getting to hold the sled dog puppies! She loved Elvis Presley and visited Graceland several times, and each time we went to visit Adam & Rebecca in Tennessee she would say no don’t turn off keep going to Memphis. I believe her ultimate vacation was our trip to Hawaii, she said it was like heaven and really enjoyed the surfing firemen! She didn’t need anything fancy to be happy. She was always happiest anytime she was with family. |
