Carolyn Mae Wille

Carolyn Mae Wille February 16, 1945 - March 14, 2020

Carolyn M (Devereaux) Wille of Batavia, died Saturday, March 14, 2020, at home surrounded by her family, during a prayer service given by Chaplain Ed Doepel.  She was born February 16, 1945 to the late Gerald and Claire Devereaux, at Newton Wellesley Hospital in Massachusetts.

While growing up, Carolyn resided in Natick, Massachusetts and, after graduating from Natick High School, Carolyn began working at the U.S. Army R & E Command where future husband, Robert Wille, from Illinois, was stationed. The two met in the spring of 1963, married a year later on April 4, 1964 and raised their three children in Batavia, Illinois.

Carolyn spent most of her marriage devoted to being a stay-at-home mom, making every birthday and holiday a magical and special day. She stayed busy by being actively involved in her children’s activities such as boy scouts, girl scouts and sports.  In the early 70s, she was a volunteer art appreciation teacher at Alice Gustafson School, a Sunday School teacher at Immanuel Lutheran Church and in the early 80s created a monthly home cooked meal program at Valley Lutheran High School.

After her youngest child graduated high school, Carolyn began working at Mooseheart as a secretary to the Dean of Students and through this position, got to know many of the students and made a positive difference in many of their lives.  Carolyn loved to spend time with family, especially at a second home at Apple Canyon Lake, traveling the country with her husband and, every year, made sure to return to her hometown of Natick to visit her Aunt Nancy, as well as visit her brother Eddie in Cape Cod.

Carolyn is survived by her husband Robert of Sugar Grove, son Jeff (Taffy) Wille of Elburn, daughter Michelle (John) Munn of Batavia, son Steve (Kat) Wille of Chicago and grandchildren Michael (fiancé Katie) Wille, Mark (fiancé Danielle) Wille, dear brother Edward “Eddie” Devereaux of Hyannis, Massachusetts, her Aunt Nancy Devereaux of Natick, Massachusetts, brother-in-law Richard (Arlene) Wille, sister-in-law Doris (Bud) Johnson, sister-in-law Joyce Byrd and several nieces and nephews.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place
Memphis, TN 38105 or www.stjude.org
