David J. Mahlke

David J. Mahlke April 10, 1938 - December 29, 2022

David J. Mahlke, 84, of Sun City Huntley and formerly of St. Charles, IL passed away Thursday, December 29, 2022, at Northwestern Hospital Huntley following a courageous battle with cancer.  He was born on April 10, 1938, in Blue Island, IL, the son of Montross V. and Helen (McNeill) Mahlke.  He was united in marriage to Marlene Marr on June 18, 1960, in Freeport, IL. 

David had a corny and funny Personality which everyone loved.  He was a strong man with great faith and adored Christian convictions. He cherished his Creator, Lord, and Savior, and throughout his illness, his strength and faith excelled.  He will be remembered for his positive outlook and selfless dedication to helping others.  David was an intelligent and intellectual man who graduated from Purdue with a Masters’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.  He was employed at Burgess-Norton Manufacturing for over 35 years as a Mechanical Engineer.  David has been a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church in Geneva, IL. 

He is survived by his loving wife Marlene; three children, Daniel (Jennifer) Mahlke, Sara (Chris) Shipka, and Elizabeth (Michael) D’Amico; nine grandchildren, Matthew Hamilton, Thomas (Olivia) Hearn, Alexandra Hearn, Michael D’Amico, Keira Moore, Cole Mahlke, John D’Amico, Tyler Shipka, and Peyton Mahlke; two great-grandchildren, Everleigh and Caterina; a brother Monte (Jeanne) Mahlke, and many nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his two brothers Donald and Russell Mahlke, and a grandson Andrew who died in infancy. 

Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 6, 2023, at Moss-Norris Funeral Home, 100 South Third Street St. Charles, IL.  A memorial service will follow the visitation at 11:00 A.M.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.
