Mary Ann Kochlefl, age 86, of St. Charles, passed away February 25, 2017. She was born June 28, 1930 in Evanston, IL to Samuel and Mary Ann Steffens. After she and her husband, Emil, married in 1950, they moved to St. Charles, where they raised their family.

She is survived by her beloved nine children, Robert (Michele) Kochlefl, Donna (Glenn) Boutilier, Nancy (Randall) Pauli, Kimberly O’Neal, John (Stephanie Wang) Kochlefl, William (Rhonda) Kochlefl, Sue Kochlefl, Molly (Randall) Forester, and Mary (Mark Visconti) Kochlefl. She was a devoted grandmother to her twenty-two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, after 52 years of marriage, and by her siblings, Lois Barker, Robert Steffens and Donald Steffens.

Mary Ann was a founding and active parishioner of St. John Neumann Catholic Church in St. Charles and member of its Silver Foxes group. She loved playing cards, especially Bridge and Pinochle, with groups of friends. She was known for her baking, particularly for her pies, which she made every Saturday for her father while she was growing up. She enjoyed gardening, spending hours in her flower beds and tending to her many house plants. An avid sports fan who played volleyball, tennis and golf, Mary Ann rooted faithfully for the Chicago Cubs her whole life. Mary Ann loved traveling with her husband and children, including annual camping adventures around the country, visiting her favorite casinos, and touring internationally. On long drives, she crocheted many beautiful afghans for her children and grandchildren.
