Felix M. Scopacasa

Felix M. Scopacasa December 24, 1931 - January 12, 2020

Felix M. “Scope” Scopacasa, 88, of St. Charles, IL, formerly of Melrose Park, IL. Passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2020 surrounded by his family at Seasons Hospice in Naperville, IL.  Scope was born on December 24, 1931 in Melrose Park, IL., the son of James and Mary Grace (nee. Mattese) Scopacasa.  He was united in marriage to Carla R. Coady on November 26, 1962 in Melrose Park, IL.

Scope had many fond memories and friendships from growing up in Melrose Park, and he often reminisced about 24th Avenue.  Although he began working various jobs at an early age (selling newspapers, working at the soda shop, and caddying), he still managed to win the American Legion award while graduating from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parochial School.  He then graduated from Proviso High School.  Scope served in the Korean War, and he worked in heating and air conditioning for decades, from Division Heating to Sheet Metal Workers 265.  He had many fond memories, friendships, and lively conversations during those experiences, as well as from golfing, visits to the racetrack and clubs, and many fun road trips with his buddies.

After he married his wonderful wife Carla, they initially settled into Franklin Park and had two children, Felix and Clarice.  The family later relocated to St. Charles, once again just up the street from two of his sisters (Jennie Franch and Antoinette “Du” Koscinski) and their families.  Scope met many fantastic neighbors there through the years, and he enjoyed his home and gardening.  Scope always really cherished his family.  He was blessed with two wonderful grandchildren (Jake Foland and Julia Foland), and he and Carla loved watching them and helping them grow.  Scope’s children, Felix V. Scopacasa and Clarice (Jeff) Foland, remained very close to him and Carla through the years and will miss him dearly, as will his wife Carla, his surviving siblings Jennie (the late Victor) Franch and Mary (the late Verl) Headley, his grandchildren, and his wonderful extended family and friends.  Scope was also a loving brother to the late Vincent ''Giggy'' (the late Virginia) DeStefano, the late Antoinette (the late Leonard) Koscinski, and the late Sam DeStefano.

A memorial visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. on February 1, 2020 at Moss-Norris Funeral Home 100 S. Third Street, St. Charles, IL. 60174.  A memorial service will follow at 3:00 P.M. also at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
