James Edwin Lempke August 6, 1944 - June 4, 2022

James “Jim” Edwin Lempke, 77, of Batavia passed away Saturday June 4, 2022, at his home.  He was born August 6, 1944, in Chicago, IL the son of Edwin Paul and Lillian (Traczyk) Lempke.  He was united in marriage to Angela Campobasso April 6, 1974, in Cicero, IL.

James was a graduate of DePaul University with a degree in economics.  He was employed by Western Electric for many years as well as other software companies until he retired from Serena.  Jim served in the United State Army from 1965 to 1967 as a Drill Sergeant.  As a young man Jim was an adventurous man who enjoyed many trips skiing in the Rocky Mountains and the Teton Mountains.  It wasn’t until one of his trips to Italy Jim experienced the warm weather and the beach that he changed to want to spend more time in the warm sunny beach then in the mountains.  Jim was a devote Catholic and member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. He gave back to his church though his hard work and talents by chairing the Barn Sale.  Jim enjoyed spending time working in his yard and caring for his garden.  One of his greatest joys came from being a grandpa, he loved more than anything to have grandchildren and spend time with his family.

He is survived by his wife Angela; a daughter Jill (Kyle) Miller; four grandchildren, Joseph, Lily, Charlie, and Anthony Miller; and his nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 South Batavia Ave. Batavia, IL.

Funeral services will begin with prayers 10:00 A.M. Thursday, June 9, 2022, from Moss Family Funeral Home, before proceeding to Holy Cross Catholic Church 2300 Main Street Batavia, IL to celebrate Mass at 10:30 A.M.  Interment will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL at 1:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family where Jim wanted them to be used towards his grandchildren’s college education.
