James Leonard Benson
May 30, 1940 - May 14, 2020 JAMES L. BENSON It is with sad but grateful hearts, we let our family and friends know of the passing of Jim (Jimbo, Bennie, Jimmy ) Benson. A lifelong Batavia Bulldog, Jim was a proud member of the class of ’58. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy from ‘58 – ’64. In recent years Jim defied all medical odds and pressed on. On May 14th he stopped fighting, and so typical of him, he had yet another cup of coffee, took his nap only to wake up in his forever home. As you all know, Jim was proud of his Family- Wife Sue (56 yrs married), Daughter Tani Benson, Son Troy (Holly) Benson. Loving and devoted Grand-Children-Doug (Ashley I) Fenske, Christopher (Ashley Finnberg) Fenske, Freddy (Stef ) Viveros, only Granddaughter Missy Fenske. He had a special place in his heart and always looked forward to spending time with his 10 yr old Grandson Griffin (Troy & Holly) Benson, and Great Grandsons 10 yr old Bradley (Doug & Tiffany Higgins) & 8 month old Bryce (Doug & Ashley I), their one and only “PA”. Jim is also survived by brother Bob (Shirley) Benson. He was preceded in death by Vic (Pat) Benson. A heartfelt thank you to our ever-present extended family the Batavia Fire Dept. which Jim was a part of for 32 yrs. Special thank you to Seasons Hospice & Presence Fox Knoll who have peen our security blankets.
