Joan B. Larson
 March 6, 1936 - July 23, 2020 Joan B. Larson 84, passed away on July 23, 2020 in Batavia. She was born on March 6, 1936 in St. Charles, the daughter of Louie J. and Lois K. (nee Brown) VerVynck. She was a graduate of the 1954 class of St. Charles High School. In 1979 she married Ronald G. Larson the “love of her life”. They were married for 25 years until Ron’s passing in 2004. Joan will be remembered for her volunteer work and dedication to her church; St. Thomas More in Elgin, where she served on numerous committees including the President of the women’s club. She also devoted many years as a troop leader for the Girls Scouts. She worked for 25 years as a patient intake coordinator for the emergency room at St. Joseph Hospital. She spent many enjoyable weekends at her trailer in Wisconsin which she shared with her brother Louie and sister-in-law Sue. She enjoyed working on crafts with her husband Ron. Her most treasured friendship was with her best friend Arlene. She was affectionately referred to as “Bunko” by all of her grandchildren. Joan is survived by her sister Barbara (Wayne) Caudill, her sister-in -law Sue VerVynck, her three children; Debra (George) Trautman of Naples, Florida, Karen (David) Jannusch of St. Charles, and Larry (Karen) Chouinard of West Dundee, her 7 grandchildren; Corinne, Sara, Karlea, Eric, Katie, Nicholas, Matthew and 14 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Ronald, her brother Louie and her parents. Visitation will be held July 30th from 10:00 – 11:00 am at Moss Family Funeral home, St Charles. Interment will follow immediately at Union Cemetery in St. Charles. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the charity of your choice in Joan’s honor.
