Joan McCrimmon

Joan McCrimmon, 85, of Geneva passed away Friday, May 15, 2020, at Bria of Geneva Nursing Home. Joan was born October 6, 1934, in Elgin, IL, the daughter of Reinhold and Elinor (Marsden) Behrens. She was united in marriage to Norman Francis McCrimmon September 29, 1956, in Elgin, IL.

Joan retired at age 65 from Micro Age Computer Stores and took on the job of full-time grandma/nanny to her three granddaughters. Although Joan’s granddaughters were always number one, Joan loved being grandma to all the neighborhood kids and was affectionately known as “Grandma Bones” to all who came to know and love her. It was never a job; it was her natural love and passion to care for the children. She made sure everyone had a ride, was fed and she supported them throughout all their activities. If it were not for Joan, her granddaughters would not have been able to participate in so many after school activities.

Joan is survived by her two daughters, Paula (Donald) McPhee of Salida, CO and Pam (Scott) Barry of Batavia, IL; four grandchildren Jesse Miller, Jacquelene (Todd) Schrems, Lauren and Carman Barry; one great-granddaughter Eleanor Rose Schrems.

She is preceded in death by her husband Norman McCrimmon and her son Bruce McCrimmon.
