John S. Derdzinski

John S. Derdzinski, 87, of Elgin and formerly of Niles for 42 years passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin.  John was born January 18, 1935, in Chicago, IL the son of Steve and Martha (Sweda) Derdzinski.  He was united in marriage to Mary T. Krema, the love of his life, May 19, 1962, in Chicago, IL.

John served in the United States Army, before starting his career as a Journeyman Plumber serving out of the Local Union 130 UA. 

He is survived by his wife Mary; four daughters Karen (Timothy) Fitzpatrick, Beth (Ken) Edwards, Julie (Jim) Donzelli and Sue Ellen (Bob) Vozza; eleven grandchildren, Seanna (Peter) Petmezas, John Ryan (Kaiti) Fitzpatrick, Maggie Fitzpatrick, Katelyn Edwards, Kelly (Matt) Gardynski, Jacquelyn, Nicholas, Matthew Donzelli, and Drew, Ryan, and Jake Vozza; sister Lorraine Ambrose and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Celia Swan, Dolores Weislak, and Loretta Pach.

Visitation will be held 9:30 A.M. until 11:30 A.M. Friday, March 18, 2022, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church 215 Thomas More Drive, Elgin, IL.  A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 A.M. following the Visitation at the Church.  A private interment will be held in All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines.
