John Dwayne Rickert Jr., 48, of St. Charles, IL, formerly of San Jose, CA, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2020 at his home in St. Charles, IL. John was born on April 11, 1972, in Rolla, MO, the son of John and Eileen (nee. Millward) Rickert. John moved to California when he was 5 years old. He spent his career in Law Enforcement in California, where he had many specialty assignments including motors, SWAT, field training officer, Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC), and Sexual Assaults Investigations Unit (SAIU). He taught sexual assault investigation techniques to other police officers and taught parenting skills to members of the community through “Parent Project.” As a police officer, he also raised money for Special Olympics, organizing “tip-a-cop” and “plane-pull” events. One of John’s favorite hobbies was coaching roller hockey. After his move to Illinois in 2014, John attended many Kane County Cougar baseball games and volunteered frequently at Feed My Starving Children. John is survived by his two children, Tyler Rickert and Alyssa Rickert; his father, John (Sue) Rickert; his mother, Eileen (Mark) Kainu; his five siblings, Matt (Joy) Rickert, Liz (Scott) Johnson, Steve Rickert, Christy (Derek) Jacobs and Tammi Rickert; and his paternal grandmother, Esther Rickert. He was preceded by his paternal grandfather, John Henry Rickert. A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at Moss-Norris Funeral Home, 100 S. Third Street, St. Charles, IL 60174. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in John’s name to Feed My Starving Children or The Special Olympics. |
