Blanche E. Sparrow of Sycamore
Blanche went home to be with the Lord on April 24, 2017, she died peacefully at Geneva Nursing and Rehabilitation , after an extended decline in health. Formerly of Sycamore, IL she lived at Heritage Woods in Batavia, IL.
She was the daughter of Jennie (Eigle) and William Wielert, born on February 24 in Hinckley, IL. She grew up on a farm and attended Hinckley elementary and high school. She was baptized and confirmed and a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hinckley.
Blanche met the love of her life, Don Sparrow at a dance at the Sycamore Armory. They were married shortly after at “the little church in the countryâ€, in Hinckley. When Don returned from the military after World War II they bought a business in Sycamore, and called it Sparrow Heating and Sheet Metal Shop, in which both were very involved. Sycamore became their home and they enjoyed many years there with their many friends. After Don’s passing, she moved to Surrey Hills in St. Charles and enjoyed 35 years there.
She was a charter member of the VFW Auxillary in Sycamore also a member of the Salem Lutheran Church. She loved to knit and crochet and enjoyed traveling, which she and Don did extensively over their years together. She was an avid Chicago Bulls fan and loved to entertain and being with children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brother, Clarence and two sisters Wilma Duntemann and Ruth Larson. Several nieces and nephews survive.
