John Thomas Noffsinger

John Thomas Noffsinger April 23, 1935 - April 21, 2020

John Thomas Noffsinger, 84, of Albany, IL passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2020 following an extended illness. John was born April 23, 1935 in Rosehill, IL; the son of Clarence Ezra and Easter Emeline (nee Kibler) Noffsinger. He was the fourth born of eleven children.

John was owner of Big John’s Tree and Landscaping Service in Warrenville, IL for 40 years. He also snow plowed in the winter months. He worked for Joe Paver Construction, Blackwell Forest Preserve on the Landfill project, and was always a handyman helping family members on various projects.  He was married to Arlene Eleanore (nee Chisamore) of 15 years and it ended in divorce.  He lived in Albany, IL with his brother, Gene for 14 years. Prior to that, he was in Maple Park, IL with his sister Virginia, (Ginny) for 13 years. 

He was able to spend the last week of his life with his daughters and their families.

He is survived by his four children, Sue Smith, Lori (Dave) Dagley, Nancy (Joseph) Risner, Joanne (Kevin) Callahan; ten grandchildren, Sandi (Jon) Symens, Jake Smith, April (Kevin) Gapp, Luke Smith, Sean DeVaney, Ryan DeVaney, Wayne (Karla) Risner, Grace Risner, Amanda Callahan and Patrick Callahan; five great grandchildren, his siblings, Lulabelle Moline, Virginia Norman, Ruby Nolan, Gene Noffsinger,  Catherine (Ray) Kimber, Caroline (Gary) Wilson; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two granddaughters, Elizabeth and Alexandra Callahan; and his siblings Doris Satter, Anna Danielson, Edna Miller and Norman William (Billy) Noffsinger.

Due to COVID-19, a memorial service will be celebrated at a time to be announced, anticipating late summer. John’s wishes were to be cremated. John’s legacy is the thousands of trees that he planted over his lifetime that will be enjoyed by generations to come. A tree will be planted in his name at a date to be determined.
