Leona Cecconi Hewitt

Leona Cecconi Hewitt, 99, of Batavia and formerly of Palatine, passed away on Saturday March 27, 2021, at home in Batavia after 99 years of exceptional life.  She was born on February 9, 1922 in Chicago, IL., the daughter of Leo and Elisa (nee. Betti) Cecconi.  She was united in marriage to Robert H. Hewitt on September 4, 1950 in Oak Park, IL.

Leona and Robert were married for over 67 years and lived in Palatine, IL. for over 63 years.  Leona enjoyed Swimming and the opera.  In her younger years she worked for United Airlines in flight operations.

Leona is survived by her loving son, Kevin (Lori) Hewitt; Her two grandchildren, Andrew and Jonathan Hewitt; her two great grandchildren, Leona and Breckin Hewitt.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Robert in 2017; her brother, George Cecconi.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 P.M. until 6:30 PM on Monday, April 5, 2021 at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave. Batavia, IL. 60510.  A funeral service will follow at 6:30 P.M. also at the funeral home.  A private interment will be held at Resurrection Cemetery in Geneva, IL.
