Leota Beth Straffon, 82, of Batavia passed away Tuesday, May24, 2022 at Avantara Nursing and Rehabilitation in Elgin. She was born in Elgin October 26, 1939, in Elgin, IL the only child of Elmer and Hazel Ruth (Wright) Pries. Leota was united in marriage to Earl Robert Straffon November 28, 1968, in Elgin, IL. Leota was an accomplished quilter. She loved caring for her family, her horse, and her gardens. She volunteered as a timekeeper at the Blackberry Polo Club and the Batavia Moose Lodge. Her great joy came from spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her two daughters, Beth (Paul) Kruger of Elgin and Barb (Sam) Kramer; three grandchildren, Laura (Zach) Bernardoni, OB (Kendal) Ready, and Jake Ready; and four great-grandchildren, Layla and Sophia Bernardoni and Dawson and McKinley Ready. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Earl Robert Straffon. All funeral services were held private.
