December 10, 1935 - April 23, 2017
Elva Lou Belles was born December 10, 1935 in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania to Paul and Adria Pearl Young. She went to Shickshinny High School with Ben Belles, the love of her life.
Having originally planned to be a nurse, Elva took time to raise her family, then followed her healing path to train as a chiropractor, where she combined intelligence with kindness, compassion, and a sense of humor.
Elva lived in goodness and light. She loved God, Ben, and her daughters, of whom she was tremendously proud, and made for them all not just a house, but a loving home.
Elva loved to sing and to read aloud; she was a performer and a people person (and liked to talk to strangers).
Creative, curious and adventurous, she loved art, books, archaeology, and travel. Some of her favorite destinations included Scotland, the Serengeti, Monterey, Baja, Prague, Alaska, and Hadrian’s Wall.
Dr. Elva L. Belles passed away peacefully Sunday, April 23, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister, Lydia. She lives on in the hearts of her husband, Benjamin; four daughters, Becky (Philip) Jones, Amy, Cindy and Suzanne Belles; four grandchildren, Bethany Headley, Josiah, Cana and Cherith Jones; two great grandchildren, Coraline and Orion Headley; a sister, Cleo Therrien; and all of her family and friends. We will all miss her unspeakably.
Go your smiling way, little mama.Send Flowers View / Sign Guestbook
