August 19, 1912 - December 5, 2016
Helen (Michalik) Wisniewski, 104, died Dec. 5, 2016, peacefully in her sleep.
She was born Aug. 19, 1912 to Jacob and Anna (Ogorzelec) Michalik in Chicago, and attended St. Casimir Catholic Grammar School and Farragut High School in Chicago.
On Aug. 20, 1932, she married Leon Wisniewski, and they had two children, Leona (late Don) Krocko and the late Donald (Geraldine) Wisniewski.
Mrs. Wisniewski is survived by six grandchildren, Cindy (Brad) Lepoudre; Annette (David) Korth; David Krocko; Michael (Carmen) Krocko; Michael (Kimberly) Wisniewski; and the late Elaine Wisniewski; eight great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon; her son, Donald; a granddaughter, Elaine; her son-in-law, Don; and four brothers, John, Frank, Joseph, and Thomas “Timmy,†and a sister, Rose.
A proud St. Charles resident for more than 30 years, she was a devout parishioner at St. John Neumann Catholic Church.
Even at 104 years old, she remained an amazing and feisty lady who until the very end, managed to do things her way, “the right way.†In fact, she maintained true grit, and even made her bed, got dressed and did daily chores every morning.
Mrs. Wisniewski loved ice cream and Irish soda bread, and she was known for her “secret recipe†of bread dumplings and apricot horns. She never refused a piece of chocolate, or a glass of wine.
She was thankful for whatever came her way, and prided herself on her work ethic.
Mrs. Wisniewski was loved and will be remembered and dearly missed by many.
Visitation will be 2-6:00 P.M Sunday December 11, 2016 at Yurs Funeral Home 405 E. Main Street, St. Charles, IL 60174. “Please Note the Day and
