Oliver Beckman
 January 25, 1934 - January 27, 2023 Oliver “Ollie” Beckman, 89, a lifelong Batavia resident and well known mechanic, passed away peacefully, on Friday, January 27, 2023 in his winter home, in Yuma Arizona. Ollie was born January 25, 1934 in Aurora, IL. the son of Charles Elmer and Margaret Ann (Mahara) Beckman. He is survived by his children; Nanette (Michael) Lamberton of Aurora, Il , Lisa (Thomas) Rowley of Batavia, Il, David (Donna) Beckman of Batavia, Il, Bonnie (Richard) Paugh of West Virginia: 2 sisters Johanna “Joy” Tracy of Burlington, IA, and Alice (Larry) Locke of Sheldon, IA., his friend Dorothy Staples of Batavia, Il., along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Vidonna “Vicki”, and his first wife Barbara, 2 brothers, James and Charles Jr., and 2 sisters, Mildred Carter and Gene Aldrich. He was a proud veteran, serving in the U.S Army from Oct. 1956 to Oct. 1958 He was married to Barbara in 1960, and with great sorrow, she passed away in 1966. He took care of all the children with the help of friends/neighbors and family. He and Vicki founded Ollie’s Garage in 1984, and it continues on today with Ollie’s son, Dave, and grandson, Tyler carrying on the Legacy. He walked miles and miles around town every day with his dog, “Little Guy” The pooper scooper in one hand and his can of Old Milwaukee in the other. Many of you will remember him as ‘the old guy with the funny hat’ Visitation will be held Saturday, February 4, 2023 from 3:00 P.M. 7:00 Pm at Moss Family Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 11:30 Sunday, Feb. 5th at the funeral home. Revered Mark. Matthews will officiate. A celebration of his life will follow at The Batavia Moose lodge from 12:30-4:30pm.
