Orville Marcus Jones

Orville Marcus Jones, 94, of the Holmstad Retirement Community in Batavia, IL and a longtime resident of St. Charles, IL, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2022.  He was born in Carroll, Iowa January 26, 1928, the son of Orville R. and Christine (Auen) Jones.  He was united in marriage to Carolyn I. Douglas August 25, 1951, in Aurora, IL. 

Orville was a long-time educator, coach and boys’ basketball official scorekeeper at St.Charles High School, which included him being inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame as official scorekeeper.  He was also a man of faith and passionate about the St. Charles community, as a long-time member of Baker Memorial United Methodist Church, the Kiwanis Club of St.Charles, and the St. Charles Boy’s Baseball Little League Association.. 

He is survived by his loving and adored wife Carolyn; three sons Tom (Nancy) Jones, Bob (Mary Beth) Jones and Jon (Susan Okuno-Jones) Jones; eight grandchildren, Shannon (Danny) Everett, Eric (Megan) Jones, Kelly Jones, Jason (Grace) Jones, Katie Jones, Jordan (Ben) Johnson, Zachary (Alyssa) Jones, and Olivia Jones; and two great-grandchildren, Payton Jones, and Calvin Johnson. 

Visitation will be held 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. Thursday, October 20, 2022, at Moss-Norris Funeral Home, 100 South Third Street St. Charles, IL.  A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon at the funeral home, following the visitation.  Interment will be in River Hills Memorial Park, Batavia, IL.
