On February 17, 2017, Prue Donoghue Schroeder slipped away into the light of Eternity.

She left behind her husband of forty nine years, Gerald Schroeder of St. Charles IL. Son, Michael, Sugar Grove, IL., Daughter, Meehan Murphy, Fayetteville, GA, Grandsons, Sean Patrick Murphy, and Ryan Christopher Murphy, Fayetteville, Ga.

She was preceded in death by her Father, Leonard Anson Donoghue, and her Mother, Julia Kelley Donoghue, sisters Deirdre Ann Donoghue and Molly Donoghue. She is survived by one sister, Sheehan Donoghue, Sayner, Wisconsin.
Prue was born on Jan. 25, 1940, in Oxford Ohio. She was raised in Merrill, WI.

Prue was very bright skipping a grade in elementary school . She graduated from Holy Cross High School. She entered Georgetown’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at 17, as one of twenty five women accepted across the United States in the fall of 1957.
Prue specialized in Russian and Middle Eastern History and Political Science while at Georgetown. She went on to get a Master of Arts in Teaching at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL.

Prue taught English as a Second Language, (ESOL) to adults and children in the St. Charles, IL area. She assisted many Spanish speaking students to learn English, as well as many Vietnamese and Laotian refugees who came here after the War in Vietnam.

Prue was a passionate horticulturist which was reflected in her lovely gardens around her home in St. Charles.
Prue loved to read. She read widely in many different areas of interest. She was also a keen observer and commentator on local, State, and National and International politics and events. She brought a keen intellectual component to her observations on the political arena.

She loved her dogs Charlie, Joe, Gus and other family dogs, as well as all the dogs in her neighborhood, Her cat, Connor, was a constant companion on whom she lavished much love even though he often drove her to distraction with his cat like antics. Prue loved films, American and Foreign, as well as Latin American Music and Dance.
Prue loved her yellow house and porch where she would sit and talk to all the children and adults who would pass by or come up and visit. She loved to give little gifts to the children in the neighborhood and would often give flowers and cuttings from her gardens to anyone in the neighborhood. She knew the names of all the dogs in the neighborhood and would welcome them up onto the porch.

She loved her grandsons Sean and Ryan and always wanted the best for them.

Prue will be missed and loved as long as memory lasts.
