Robert C. Crawford, age 84, of St. Charles, Illinois, passed, Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Delnor Hospital in Geneva, Illinois.
He was born February 4, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois.
Mr. Crawford is survived by three daughters, Roseann Brittain of Omaha, Nebraska, Deb Abram of Oak Park and Lynn Potocki of Aurora, two granddaughters, Megan (Jovan) Joiner and Emily Abram.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Anita, his parents Elmer and Winifred, his brothers, Lee (Kaye), Eugene (Lakettia) and Jack.
He enlisted in the United States Army in 1951 as a Private-1. He served in the Korean War and received the following, medals: Korean War Service Medal, Army of Occupation Medal-Japan and the UN Service Medal for National Defense.
He worked as a tool and die maker, a baker and finally, a highly skilled Machinist. He enjoyed 41 years of employment at Dunlee/ Philips where he proudly received his first patent, in 1994 and multiple awards of excellence throughout his career. He retired in 2002 from the Aurora location.
He was a man of many talents and hobbies from scuba diving to photography, leather carving to archery. His greatest loves, were fishing, horseback riding, and woodworking.
Funeral service will be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 E. Main Street (Rt. 64), St. Charles. Entombement will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Wounded Warriors Project P.O. Box 758517 Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517
