Robert Edgar Sharp

Robert Edgar Sharp, 92, of St. Charles passed away on July 22, 2020 in St. Charles. He was born on June 4, 1928 in Richmond, IN, the son of Robert Earl and Catherine Marie (nee Smith) Sharp. He was united in marriage on May 17, 1952 to Mary Louise Puthoff in Richmond, IN.

Robert graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering. He spent most of his career in the wire and cable industry, rising to the position of Product Development Manager at Belden Corporation.  He resided in Saint Charles since 1968 and at Bickford of St. Charles for the past four years.  He was a member of Saint Patrick Church in St. Charles for 52 years.  Robert loved to spend time with his family and was an avid model railroader and amateur radio enthusiast, belonging to the Fox River Radio League, NAIM, and Golden K organizations.

He is survived by his four children, Robert M. (Constance) Sharp, Barbara J. Sharp, Thomas M. (Ellen Miller) Sharp, and Mary C. Sharp; three grandchildren, Brianna (Chase) Schoen, Natalie (Andrew) Smith, and Stephanie Sharp; and seven great-grandchildren, Josiah Stillman, Lucas Schoen, Madeline Schoen, Kenna Schoen, Jackson Smith, Walter Smith, and Isaac Sharp.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Mary, who passed away on October 7, 1996.

Visitation will be held on Sunday July 26, 2020 from 3PM – 6PM at Moss Family Funeral Home 100 South Third Street in St. Charles, IL. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church 6N941 Crane Road in St. Charles on Tuesday July 28, 2020 at 10:30 AM. Interment to follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Geneva to follow.

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, the visitation will be limited. All visitors entering the funeral home are required to wear a face covering. Due to the number of people who would like to pay their respects, we ask that you make your visit a brief one in order that all who would like to attend will have a chance to do so. Once you have exited the funeral home, we ask you to depart immediately so there are no gatherings outside of our facility.
