Robert “Bob” F. Mukenschnabl of St. Charles, Illinois passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at the age of 80.  Born to Frank and Mary (Batista) Mukenschnabl, Bob was united in marriage to Cynthia Driessen June 9, 1984, in St. Charles, IL.

Bob attended Lewis University’s aircraft maintenance program, graduating in 1962. After passing all required examinations, Bob was awarded ‘Aircraft & Powerplant’ and ‘Inspection Authorization’ certificates by the Federal Aviation Administration. Bob was then hired by United Airlines to maintain the numerous and varied types of propeller and jet aircraft then in service.  He was also trained, and certified, as a pilot.

In 1972, Bob opened his own maintenance facility/fixed base operation at DuPage Airport, ‘Mukenschnabl, Inc.’  With a work ethic like no other, Bob famously worked seven days a week, 365 days a year, from the day he opened the business until just two weeks prior to his passing.  In 2016, Bob was awarded the prestigious ‘Master Mechanic’ and ‘Master Pilot’ awards by the FAA in recognition of his superior knowledge, skill, and 50 years of continuous service to the aviation community.  Bob truly loved aviation and devoted his entire life to it.

Bob is survived by his wife Cynthia; his children, Robert (Tamara) Mukenschnabl and Matthew (Kandy) Muksnschnabl;  Anna (William) Callahan;  Ryan (Amy) Braman,  Michael Braman, and Heather (Kenneth) Haas, eighteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Donald (Judy) Mukenschnabl, George Mukenschnabl, Dorothy O’Reilly, and Mary Crawford, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Thomas Mukenschnabl.

Visitation will be held 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Sunday, June 6, 2021, at Moss-Norris Funeral Home, 100 South Third Street St. Charles, IL.
