Roger D. Thryselius

Roger D. Thryselius, 82, of Batavia, IL lost his battle with Alzheimer’s Disease surrounded by the love of his family at his home on Saturday, January 28, 2023. He was born October 29, 1940 in Batavia, IL to Stanley and Catherine (nee Galles) Thryselius. 

Roger grew up in Batavia, graduated from Batavia High School in 1958, and studied art and sculpture at DePaul University. He worked as a Graphic Designer at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago for 38 years, retiring in 2001. He was a talented stone sculptor and gardener who loved to joke, talk, and tell a story. He could, and would, strike up a conversation with just about everyone he’d meet! He loved to travel the world, take road trips across the U.S., cook, and spend time with his friends, family, and adopted dogs at his home in Chicago. 

He is survived by his loving life partner of 43 years Justin So; His former wife Marge Macao and their three children; Two sons Bryan and David Thryselius, daughter Erica (Jim) Keogh; Five grandchildren; Kristin, Jinae, and Jarin Thryselius, Carly and Ben Keogh; Two great grandchildren; Aubrey and Alexa Birns; a Sister Bonnie, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Ronald Thryselius.
