Ronald D. Brazener

Ronald D. Brazener June 11, 1945 - January 5, 2023

Ronald D. Brazener, 77, of Batavia, IL passed away peacefully on January 5, 2023, at Arden Courts, a memory care facility, in Geneva, IL after a lengthy illness. He was born June 11, 1945, in Birmingham, England, to Harry and Mary (nee Miles) Brazener. He emigrated with his family to Lachine, Canada in 1951, and then moved to Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin in 1956. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1963, with honors and competed in 4 sports: football, basketball, track, and golf.

He attended UW in Madison where he met his future wife, Margaret (Maggie) Jorstad. They married in August of 1966 in Barron, Wisconsin. They went on to have two sons Jeffrey and Michael Brazener. Upon his graduation in Jan of 1968, he enlisted in the Army. Following Officer Candidate School, he was assigned to the Old Guard. He served in that ceremonial/security unit out of Ft. McNair in Washington, DC. He spent most of 1970 in Vietnam. Returning at the end of 1970, he went back to UW and received his MBA in May of 72. His work history spanned nearly 40 years in the field of finances for Mobil Oil, Abbot Labs, and General American Door Company. His duties in the International Division of Abbott took him to Australia, Japan, South America, France, Germany, and Ireland plus a three-year assignment that took him and his family to Puerto Rico.

Ron was an avid sports fan and golfer. He enjoyed watching his son’s and grandchildren’s sports and music events while they were growing up. He followed the Badgers, Packers, pro golf, and Da Bulls.  He took up running in his 40s and ran several marathons into his 60s. Later, he became a spinning instructor. He and Maggie participated in several bridge groups through the years, took some cruises with friends, and traveled twice to England to visit relatives.

He is survived by his loving wife; Margaret, sons; Jeffrey (Carlie Warner Horvath) Brazener and Michael Brazener; grandchildren, Sydney and Lyndsey Brazener, and step-grandchildren; Taylor and Jordan Lanclos and Zachary Horvath; brother and sister-in-law Alan and Lorraine of Rochester, NY; three nephews and their families and several cousins in England.

He was preceded in death by both his parents.

A memorial gathering for family and friends will be announced at a later date.

Rest in peace Ron, you will live in our memories forever.
