Sabine E. Wolff

Sabine E. Wolff (née Jacoby) of Lombard, IL, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 28, 2022, at age 90.  Sabine was born on July 12, 1931, in Altkleppen, German, in Lower Silesia.  The youngest of three farm girls, she was best known for her cheerful laugh, her gentle manner, her fantastic cooking, and her strong faith.  A hard-working and dedicated wife, loving mother to her five children, and caring grandmother to her four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, she was always ready to share what she had with others. 

Sabine loved to spend her time working in her beautifully tended garden and sitting in her gazebo…even in her 90s.  A world traveler and happy visitor to the casino, she loved to explore, to enjoy life and to connect with friends and relatives, both old and new.

She had an unshakable faith and was a woman of fervent prayer.  Whenever she was near her last penny, she’d say, I’m not worried.  Everything will be ok and then miraculously provisions would appear from nowhere. Despite many hardships, she was blessed with a good, long life and leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and joy. 

She is survived by her loving husband, Hans Wolff, Sr., her son, Hans Wolff, Jr., her daughter, Mary Ann Totz (Terrance), youngest son, Michael Wolff, four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and various cousins, nieces, and nephews. 

Sabine was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Charlotte Jacoby, her eldest sister, Marianne Böer, her older sister, Ingeborg Dickerson, her daughter, Rosi Freeman, and her son Klaus Wolff. 

Visitation will be held 4:00 P.M. until 6:30 P.M. on Monday, February 7, 2022, at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave., Batavia, IL  60510.  Funeral services will begin immediately following visitation at 6:30 P.M. at the funeral home. 

Interment will be on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at West Batavia Cemetery in Batavia, IL.
