Sharon Clancy Bertane

Shari Clancy Bertane, 72, of Geneva, Illinois, passed away on September 23rd, surrounded by her family.  She was born to Lois and the late James Clancy in Freeport, Illinois.  Shari graduated from Southern Illinois University and later received her law degree from DePaul University.  She was married to the late Patrick J. Dixon in 2006 and was predeceased by him in 2011.  She is survived by her three children, Clancy Murray (Patrick), Ben Bertane (Jessica Freeman) and Max Bertane (Theresa), four grandchildren, Flynn and Helen Murray, and Lillian and Patrick Bertane, her mother, Lois Clancy, her four siblings, Patti Landry (Marty Stone), Jan Kempel, Jim Clancy (Natalie) and Genie Georgen (Ray), as well as many nieces and nephews.   

Shari was best known for her quick-witted humor, fierce determination, and generous spirit.  She was a staunch liberal and an avid lover of books, travel, and sitting by her pool.  Her late husband, Patrick, used to say that they purchased a pool and luckily it came with a house.

Shari’s Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 20th from 1 to 3 p.m. at Copper Fox, 477 S 3rd Street, Geneva, IL 60134.
