Teddy Arnold Bergeson

Teddy Arnold Bergeson, 88, of Batavia passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at his home.  He was born January 3, 1934, in Aurora, IL, the son of Arnold and Hannah (Schiltz) Bergeson.  He was united in marriage to Ellen Heiser June 1, 1957, in West Chicago, IL.

A lifelong resident of Batavia Ted had a love and passion which he contributed professionally to the Community of Batavia in many ways.  He was a graduate from the University of Illinois with a degree in Civil Engineering.  Following graduation from College, Ted served in the United States Army from 1956 until his discharge in 1962.  Ted held several positions as an Engineer, but most notable he served as the City of Batavia Engineer for many years.  He had a lifelong passion for the outdoors including, hunting and fishing.  He was also an avid gardener, enjoyed reading and writing, and especially loved to cook.  He had this wonderful quirky sense of humor that will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife Ellen Bergeson; his children, Pat (Annie) Bergeson, Laura (Tim Griesmann) Bergeson, Donald Bergeson, and Julie (Bob) Allen, and Ted (Kate) Bergeson; eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son Keith Bergeson, a sister Audrey Bergeson, and three brothers, John, Richard, Donald “Corky” Bergeson. 

A memorial Mass will be celebrated 10:30 A.M. Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 2300 Main Street Batavia, IL.  The interment will take place immediately following the funeral Mass at West Batavia Cemetery, Batavia, IL.

A Celebration of Life Luncheon will be held, 12:30 P.M. Sunday, January 15, 2023, at the Batavia Moose Lodge, 1535 S. Batavia Ave., Batavia, IL,
