Charles “Chuck” L. Stearns, age 91, of St. Charles, died Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Delnor Hospital Geneva .
He was born October 24, 1926 in Carrier Mills, Il. The son of the late George and Winifred Stearns.
Chuck served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was employed by Flexonics Machine Design for 43 years before he retired. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran church and also a member of the Prop Busters Model Airplane club and was a Scout Master Troop number 13 from 1968 to 1972at Bethlehem. Chuck also had a passion in photography and traveling the west.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years Margaret Nelson Stearns whom he met at Hawley Products Co. They were united in marriage on May 1, 1948. He is also survived by his two children, Michael (Kim) Stearns and Tina Smith. Six grandchildren, Erik (Andrea), Matt, Daniel (Karly) and Tommy Smith. Also David (Elizabeth), and Rachel Stearns. Three great grandchildren, James, Ella, and Evelyn.
He was preceded in death by his son, James Stearns and his son in law Craig Smith
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4 to 8:00 P.M. at Yurs Funeral Home St. Charles. Funeral Services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at funeral home. Burial will be at Union Cemetery, St Charles. Contributions may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
