Thomas Patrick Gacic, 72, of St. Charles, IL passed away Tuesday May 10, 2022 after a long battle with illness. He was born August 9, 1949 in Chicago, IL the son of George and Francis (Vandevender) Gacic. Tom was united in marriage to Barbara Joanne Laughridge April 18, 1970 in Albany, WI. In his profession, Tom was able to channel his passion for craftsmanship, a hobby which could be heard around the neighborhood late nights from his backyard workshop. For an introvert, his ability to talk about tools was limitless. Local tinkerers and professional craftsmen alike knew to hit all his garage sales, lining the street before dawn to get a crack at the routers and saws. They might also find a fishing rod or two. He was an avid fisherman, inspired by his regular trips to Muncie, IN to visit his grandfather as a child. You might find him stringing bait near the ponds of Pratt's Wayne or more often in his later years along the banks of the Fox River. He is survived by his loving wife Barb; daughter Colleen (Tom) Simpson of Scituate, MA; daughter Kelli Gacic of Tucson, AZ; adored grandsons Charlie and Rhys Simpson; his brother George (Liz) Gacic of Lombard, IL and his father-in-law William Ray Laughridge of Albany, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved mother-in-law Carol Laughridge. A Celebration of Life will be held 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Hickory Knolls Discovery Center 3795 Campton Hills Dr, St. Charles, IL. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church 2900 E. Main Street in St. Charles. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the American Kidney Fund or the American Heart Association. |
