Thomas L. Wright

Thomas L. Wright May 21, 1955 - March 31, 2021

Thomas L Wright, of St. Charles, age 65, passed away suddenly at home on March 31, 2021. He is a much loved husband, father and Papa, and retired President and CEO of Delnor Community Hospital.  He was born in Berwyn, IL on May 21, 1955, to Lawrence “Bill” and Matilda Wright.

Tom began his career at Delnor-Community Hospital in 1986 as CFO and retired as President and CEO of the Health Care System in 2012.  During his tenure, the hospital received many nationally recognized honors.  He always wanted a job where he could help people, and during his time at Delnor, he made it his mission to get infection rates down and employee and patient satisfaction up.  Although all the honors awarded personally and to the hospital were impressive, Tom’s greatest legacy was his deep investment in the lives he led, his compassion for his staff and his commitment to Delnor and the community.  For those who worked with him at Delnor, he is remembered for the incredible energy he brought to every project, his office door always being open to everyone, his whistling down the hallways as he made his rounds while greeting everyone he passed, and his interest in truly knowing his employees.  He will always be a B.O.B. (Best of the Best) for those he had the privilege to work with.

Tom’s biggest passions in life were his faith and his family.  He counted every day as a blessing and never took life for granted.  Each day began with a Bible reading, and praise songs filled the air (loudly) throughout the day.  His faith was deep, and he truly loved the Lord with all his heart.

His greatest passion was his family.  He loved being a husband, a father, and a Papa; he excelled in each role by purposefully giving attention to each and every family member.  He told us and showed us each and every day how much he loved and cared for us.  He will be remembered for being the ultimate companion.  From gardening, to golfing, to hiking, assisting in all sorts of projects with all of us, to playing softball, to racing on Mario Kart and planning loads of fun family vacations and special times together.  He loved devoting his time to each of his family member’s interests. He brought us all joy every day.  He will be missed for his endless amounts of energy, and his pure joy of life.  Although we feel his life ended too early, his ability to live each day to the fullest allowed him to live more than a full life.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Wendy; sons, Peter (Alissa) and Brian (Chelsea) Wright; daughter, Kersten Wright; and beloved grandchildren, Matthias, Toby, Eli, Jeremiah, and Jocelyn Wright.  He was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence “Bill” and Matilda Wright, and son, Christopher Wright.

No services are planned.  Donations may be made in his honor to Lazarus House, PADS of Elgin, the Covenant Harbor Fund (Lake Geneva Wisconsin) or to the Fox Valley Christian Action.
