Victoria N. Tan

Victoria “Vicky” N. Tan, 76, of Batavia, Il., passed away on Friday, August 6, 2021, surrounded by her family at home.   Victoria was born on April 9, 1945, in the Philippines, the daughter of Martin and Fidela (nee. Estrevillo) Nola.  She was united in marriage to Jose V. Tan in the Philippines.

Victoria was known to everyone as our dear “Mala.” She was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and a good friend.  If there was one thing that everyone remembers her for, was that Mala was a great cook.  She would hand-make dishes like her “Kaldereta” (a beef stew dish from the Philippines), while we have all enjoyed it several times, no one was able to remake it the way she does. Maxie, one of her grandchildren, eats nothing but her spaghetti all day. While we were able to replicate that dish, the other dishes will remain in our memories. She was also known notoriously for her love of ham and Crispy Pata and her hate for hospital food. She loved crafting anything by hand despite how long it took, taking care of everyone including her pets and plants and loved playing Candy Crush and Farmville on her phone.  She enjoyed a good meal while being surrounded by her family and friends. She will always be remembered to be there and help anyone whenever she could. 

Victoria is survived by her five children, Cris (Marco) Delmundo, Carlo (Kats) Tan, Eric (Betty) Tan, Ean (Abby) Tan and Nicole Tan; her twelve grandchildren, Sam, Max, Aina, Thea (Derick), Toni, Roux, Myka, Paolo, Zeke, Lance, Kian and Alec; her great granddaughter, Summer; her sister, Linda Mendoza; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Jose V. Tan; and her four brothers. 

Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave. Batavia, IL 60510.  A funeral service will follow at 12:00 P.M. also at the funeral home.  Interment will be held privately.
