January 23, 1954 - March 31, 2026

Andrew Joseph Bianchi, age 72 of Cortland, Illinois, died Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at Sherman Hospitalin Elgin, Illinois. He was born January 23, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois to Joseph and Jane (Scott) Bianchi. When God made Andrew Joseph Bianchi, he broke the mold because there will never be a kinder, more loving, compassionate, or giving person than he. Andrew never hesitated to get to know the people around him and when you met him, you met a friend for life. Andrew never judged anyone, and he gave everyone he knew all of his time, energy, kindness, and presence because he genuinely cared about who you are, not about what you can do for him. Andrew is survived by his wife of 46 years, Hilda Bianchi, his mother, Jane, his children David (Kimberly), Bridget, and Hillary, his siblings Mary (John) Fritzler, Martin, Rita (Roger) Manka, Pete (Debbie), Joanne (Harry) Nelson, and many nieces and nephews. Andrew was very devoted to his family. He was a most kind, loving and very caring father and a wonderful and loving husband. As a human being, Andrew was ALWAYS there when you needed him. He would put others’ needs before his own, because it made him happy to see other people happy and flourishing. Even if you said ‘no’ to his help, he would try to help anyway. Andrew attended Taft High school in Chicago (class of 1972) and received an Associate Degree in Computer Science from Wright college in Chicago. In high school he was in track and field and his love for running continued until the very end of his life. He joined the Kenyon Farm runners group in Elgin and ran the Chicago Marathon twice. His love for running kept him joining races for over 20 years. As a member of the Kenyon Farm runners group he developed many loyal and lasting friendships. Andrew was an avid fan of trains and he enjoyed building models. Andrew was ecologically-minded and he was a strong proponent of solar and wind energy to help the earth and protect the planet. He would always say, “Earth is the only home we have.” Andrew worked in computer science information systems until he retired. In his retirement he enjoyed gardening, painting the house, running, and enjoying time with family. Your life was made better by having Andrew in it and he was deeply loved by his family and friends. Andrew will be sorely missed. He will live forever in our hearts and memories. Andrew was an organ donor, and gifts made in his honor are most welcome to charities involving improving drinking water in third-world countries or St. Jude’s Children’s hospital. All are invited to Andrew’s wake and funeral. Wake: Thursday, April 9th, 2026 4pm-9pm Yurs Funeral Home 405 E.
