ANTHONY “Tony” VITIRITTI
Date of BirthApril 24, 1970 Date of DeathJune 5, 2023 Anthony “Tony†Vitiritti, age 53, of South Elgin, formerly of St. Charles, passed away unexpectedly, Monday, June 5, 2023. The unanswered questions that remain are dwarfed by the thousands of memories he left for us to treasure. He was born April 24, 1970, in Bolingbrook, IL. Tony grew up in Bolingbrook and attended local schools. He graduated from Bolingbrook High School with the class of 1988. Following graduation Tony found employment with RAM Mechanical, and in 2016 started with VP Mechanical as a sheet metal worker. He took great pride in his work and his membership in the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 265 (SMART) for over 25 years. Over that time, he continued his education in excellence, gathering numerous certifications that helped pave the way to additional responsibilities and promotions. He was united in marriage to Jayne Hoffman. They were blessed with two daughters who made the family complete. Though they would eventually travel down different paths, Tony and Jayne’s love for their daughters was infinite. Tony’s path would lead him to Marcy Mazzocchi, where he found the other half of his heart. Even though they would never walk down the aisle hand in hand, it was obvious that they were joined heart to heart and soul to soul. As a young man, Tony had an artistic side that led him to a love of drawing and painting. It also led him as he got older to his love of making music. He pounded the speakers on the stage of the Thirsty Whale as a bass player for No Romeo. The band went in search of fame and fortune on the west coast, but even if the dream didn’t become a reality, his talent was in full view. He also played in FAQ, another local band who made their own reputation and following from gig to gig. Tony was always on the move and never faster than when he participated in drag strip racing in Byron and Joliet, IL. His 1966 bright purple Chevy Nova was a blur from start to finish, only slowing when he won the checkered flag. Murray, who joined the family in 2013, was a beloved pug and boxer mix with a small stature but an enormous underbite that only made him cuter. He loved the times spent at Burhop’s Lakeside Lodge in Lodi, WI. Casting lines for elusive walleye on the shore or on a boat in all manner of weather. Rain, snow, sleet, ice, or testing his luck on the most perfect of days, Tony and his best fishing buddy Murray (complete with vest for safety) took in countless catches though the size of those catches may have changed depending on the story. He was a craftsman extraordinaire, gutting his trailer in Wisconsin, rehabbing his home in IL, complete with a new fireplace, cabinets and made walls disappear with a wink and a sledge. He built a six-car garage to help house his numerous projects. “Tinkering†was Tony’s code for being elbow deep in grease for hours on end. Tony loved to get into the wind with Marcy on his 2016 Road King Harley Davidson in search of open road and any adventure they could find. Tony’s daughters were the light of his life, and he loved being the ultimate “girl dadâ€. Tony relished every moment he could spend with them. It didn’t matter if it was a quiet conversation or in happily making memories while snowmobiling, swimming, water skiing and riding bikes to their hearts content. Tony’s love of making music didn’t prevent him from enjoying going to numerous concerts. His life’s soundtrack included numerous bands, especially Johnny Cash. Tony never met a stranger and was loved by all who met him. He leaves a legacy of love and laughter that will remain for all who loved him to celebrate and honor. He leaves the love of his life, Marcy Mazzocchi; his two beloved daughters: Angela and Gina Vitiritti; and his best four-legged friends, Murray and Trixie; and his parents Richard and Cindy Vitiritti and his sister, Cindy (Jeff) Weber. He now joins his paternal grandparents, Frank and Louise Vitiritti, who preceded him in death. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Monday, June 12, 2023, at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn, IL 60119. A memorial service to celebrate Tony’s life will begin at 7 p.m. Private family interment will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Tony’s name. Checks may be made to the “Anthony R. Vitiritti Memorial†and mailed in care of P.O. Box 66, Elburn, 60119.
