Barry John Holt
June 19, 1949 - December 20, 2025 Barry John Holt, 76, passed away on Saturday, December 20, surrounded by the love of his family. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his children and nieces and nephews who knew him as a steady, caring presence. Born on June 19, 1949, to John and Renee Holt, Barry grew up in Whiting, Indiana. He later made Illinois his home after marrying Karen Lynn Holt on November 23, 1974, at First United Methodist Church in Lansing, IL. Together, they built a life centered on family, loyalty, and humor. Barry is survived by his son, Adam, and daughter, Megan; his sister, Linda (Phil), and her children, PJ (Perry) and Mandi (John); and his sister-in-law, Laurie (Ray), her children Michael and Kristen (Mike), and Kristen’s children, Kaylee and Lucas. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Karen, and his parents, John and Renee Holt. A small celebration of Barry’s life will be held from 4:00–7:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, at Alfano’s, 1115 Turkington Terrace, Rochelle, IL. Close family and friends are invited to gather, share stories, and remember Barry. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a local animal rescue in honor of Barry’s love for rescue dogs.
