BEVERLY LEMONS

BEVERLY LEMONS

Date of Birth

January 5, 1934

Date of Death

April 6, 2022

Beverly Lemons age 88, of Oswego, IL, formerly of Orland Park, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2022, and is now reunited in Heaven with her husband Gene.

She was born January 5, 1934, in Chicago to loving parents, Edward and Vivian Weiher.

Beverly grew up in Chicago and attended local schools. After graduating high school, Beverly worked as a hostess at the U.S.O. in Chicago and had an eye for a certain man in uniform, Gene Lemons. After a whirlwind courtship, they walked down the aisle, on August 19, 1955. They made their home in Orland Park, IL, raising two children and making enough memories to last a lifetime. Grief came to call when Gene passed away in 2019, but now their spirits can roam the celestial canyons of the west.

Beverly was a dedicated and loving wife, as well as “the best mom ever”. She had a special place in her heart and for all of God’s creatures (except snakes), with dogs and ferrets finding a place in their home for many years. Lake Point Resort in Wilmington, IL, was a vacation staple but they roamed over the west coast, dipping into the southern states and jumping up to Canada as well. They spent months living out of a camper and lived the “rockhound” lifestyle, searching for unique finds in every canyon. She made jewelry out of some of their treasures that became priceless gifts for family and friends. Her boys were the apple of her eye but strained the patience of a saint as the self-proclaimed “hell raisers” kept her on her toes. The love Beverly had for her only grandson, R.J. was limitless, as was his inherited potential for mischief.  American Indian history and sculptures captured her attention and her pocketbook as her collections grew.  Beverly was a treasure whose love grew with every encounter and will be missed by all.

She is survived by her son, Ross (Shelley) Lemons and their son R.J.; and a family of friends.

She is preceded by her parents, Edward and Vivian Weiher; one son James “Jimmy” Lemons; and one sister, Diana Weiher.

Private family services and burial will follow at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Sunnymere, a not-for-profit assisted living facility, and can be mailed to 925 6th Avenue, Aurora, IL 60505. Memories and tributes may be left on the Conley Funeral Home Facebook Page, or at www.conleycare.com.
