Brian Goldthorp Obituary Brian P. Goldthorp, age 76, of Naperville, IL (formally Newfane, NY) passed away Friday, August 7, 2026, at Independence Village in Naperville surrounded by his loving family.
He was born September 21, 1949, in Niagara Falls, New York the son of John and Frances (O’Neill) Goldthorp.
Brian grew up on his family’s farm in Wilson, NY. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and earned his bachelor’s from Cornell before spending 30 years with Newfane Lumber Company. An avid gardener and artist, he was, above all, a genuinely happy man. He was the fun uncle to his nieces and nephews—always up for pizza and wings, scratch-offs, and winning prizes from claw machines. A devout Catholic, he spent much of his adulthood caring for his mother, and his generosity extended to everyone in his life—family, friends, and coworkers alike; he wanted to do everything for everyone. Well-read and endlessly engaging, he was a wonderful conversationalist who could talk classical music, science fiction, or the latest TV shows and movies with anyone. Brian’s thoughtfulness, wit, and joy will be missed by all who knew him.
Brian is survived by his nieces Elizabeth Krahulec of Aurora and Katie (Dan) Tyranski of Geneva; brother John (Judy) Goldthorp of Texas and their children Suzanne, Mary, and Andrew; and many other dear relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Anne G. Krahulec, and his parents.
A Celebration of Funeral Mass for Brian will be held at 10:30 am, Thursday, August 13, 2026 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 1891 Kaneville Road, in Geneva with Father Ryan Nooraee as Celebrant. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SLNwe3HMRK0
