Carmen Huerta

August 24, 1938 - March 12, 2024

Carmen Huerta died peacefully on Tuesday, March 12 th , in her home in North Aurora, Illinois.  Hailing from San Luis Potosi, Mexico, Carmen moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1973. She lived in Little Village for almost 30 years, making many lifelong friendships along the way.  Throughout her life, Carmen was a social butterfly who seemed to know everyone no matter where she lived. She loved movies and music, interests that she passed down to her family. Carmen was also a devout Catholic, frequently finding solace in prayer. She had an impressive and rather helpful knowledge of the saints and their various intercessory roles. Carmen is survived by her spouse, Javier Huerta; her daughters, Drs. Imelda and Marisela Huerta; son-in-law, Osvaldo Mendoza; and her beloved grandsons, Gerardo and Eduardo Galvez-Huerta. Carmen loved her family fiercely and was their best protector and cheerleader. Always full of encouraging words, home remedies, and prayers, Carmen taught those she loved to engage in self-care. She will be deeply missed by all. Visitation will be Friday, March 15 th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Yurs Funeral Home, 1771 W. State Street, Geneva, Illinois. Funeral mass will be Saturday March 16 at 10:00 A.M. at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 180 S. Russell Ave, Aurora, Illinois.  Carmen was a lifelong supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Originaria de San Luis Potosí, México, Carmen se mudó a Chicago, Illinois en 1973. Vivió en Little Village por casi 30 años, creando muchas amistades duraderas en el camino. A lo largo de su vida, Carmen fue una mariposa social que parecía conocer a todos sin importar donde vivía. Le encantaban las películas y la música, intereses que transmitió a su familia. Carmen también era una católica devota, encontrando frecuentemente consuelo en la oración. Tenía un conocimiento impresionante y bastante útil de los santos y sus diferentes roles intercesores. A Carmen le sobreviven su esposo, Javier Huerta; sus hijas, las Dras. Imelda y Marisela Huerta; su yerno, Osvaldo Mendoza; y sus queridos nietos, Gerardo y Eduardo Galvez-Huerta. Carmen amaba a su familia ferozmente y fue su mejor protectora y animadora. Siempre llena de palabras alentadoras, remedios caseros y oraciones, Carmen enseñó a aquellos que amaba a participar en el autocuidado. Será profundamente extrañada por todos. El velorio será el viernes 15 de marzo de 4:00 p.m. a 8:00 p.m. en Yurs Funeral Home, 1771 W. State Street, Geneva, Illinois. Los arreglos para la misa fúnebre se anunciarán próximamente.
