Carol Lauritzen Nichol
February 22, 1934 - November 15, 2025 Carol Lauritzen Nichol died peacefully at home on Saturday, November 15th. She was born and raised in St. Charles. Like many during WW2, she became a Gold Star sister. Carol graduated from St. Charles High School and attended Catawba College. After working in New York, she returned to St. Charles and married Stewart Nichol. They had 4 children. When the family was young, they moved to Alabama where they raised their children. Carol was an active volunteer for their children’s school, Cancer Society and Girl Scouts. After each child was out on their own, they left Alabama. After briefly living in Indiana, they returned to St. Charles. Carol is survived by children Trudy Nichol, Paula (Fred) Griffith of Charlotte NC, Jane (Rob) Reindl of Laguna CA, and Peter (Donajy) Nichol. Grandchildren Preston (Kelsey) Griffith, Noland (Catherine) Griffith, Grant (Tracey) Reindl, and Sara (Brien) Beaman. Great Granddaughters Reagan Reindl, Blake Reindl, Summer Beaman, Lilah Beaman, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Stewart Nichol, parents John and Pauline Lauritzen; siblings, John Lauritzen, Henry Lauritzen, and Vivian Manda. On Friday, November 21st, there will be a private graveside service for family. Immediately following, the family is hosting a celebration of Carol’s life at Mio Modo, 200 South 2nd Street, from 2:00-4:00 pm.
