Clifton O. Bartelt Obituary Clifton O. Bartelt was born on August 16, 1946 to Evelyn M. Bartelt and Robert W. Bartelt of Aurora, Illinois. He died on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.
Surviving him are his children Wesley B. Bartelt (partner Michelle Schlicher), Heather L. (Mounir) Belcadi; grandson Adam P. Belcadi; and his son and daughter's mother Peggy Swan Bartelt.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cliff was a Sargent in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War (1967-1968), where he served at Da Nang and the area around Da Nang Special OPS TDY I Corp United States Marines. He was honored by Honor Flight from Chicago to Washington DC on August 18, 2021. He served as a police officer with the city of Batavia, Illinois from (1969-1970) and as a police officer with the city of Aurora, Illinois from (1970-2001) where he received numerous letters of commendations for his work.
Cliff served as President of the Illinois Police Association in 2004 and 2005. Mr. Bartelt served as bailiff for the Judiciary in Kane County.
Cliff was a member of the Kane County Chiefs of Police, International police association, past members of the Illinois chiefs of police, member of the Aurora police benevolent and protective association unit 30, past member of the emerald society of Illinois. He is on the role call of officers in national police officer museum in Washington DC. Member of NFL alumni Green Bay chapter, chairman board of directors of fox valley credit union of Aurora, Illinois. Judge advocate of Batavia V.F.W post #1197 and judge advocate 19th district of Illinois. Mr. Bartelt coached Tri city youth football chargers of the Bill George youth football league and served as board member. Mr. Bartelt attended West Senior High School Class of 1965, Waubonsee Community College Class of 1976, and Lewis University where he graduated in 1978 with a B.A. in Criminal Justice.
A visitation for Clifton will be held Wednesday, July 15, 2026 from 4:00 pm until the time of his funeral service at 7:30 pm at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38), Geneva.
Burial will be held Friday, July 17 at 11:00 am at Oak Hill Cemetery in Geneva.
