CYNTHIA “CINDY” SMITH

CYNTHIA “CINDY” SMITH

Date of Birth

May 15, 1957

Date of Death

October 25, 2022

Cynthia “Cindy” Smith, age 65, of Pingree Grove, IL, passed away surrounded by the love and prayers of her family, Tuesday, October 25, 2022.She was born May 15, 1957, in Chicago, IL, one of seven children.

Cynthia grew up in Wheaton and attended local schools. She graduated from Wheaton North High School with the class of 1975.

Cindy met Tom Smith, through a co-worker in Warrenville, where she worked as a waitress. No one remembers what was on the menu, but you couldn’t order a more perfect pair. They were united in marriage on September 21, 1986. They began their new life together in Warrenville for a time before moving to Maple Park in 1988. Later, Elburn became their home until recent years brought them to Pingree Grove.

Cindy was a consummate host, so it was only natural for her to waitress for many years. Later, she bought a dog grooming business, where she received happy, wagging tails. They built a space in her home for the business and when they moved from Maple Park to Elburn, the business followed until her retirement in 2020.

Cindy’s heart beat to music of her own drum, or to the drums of the countless bands she saw in person over the years. It didn’t matter who they were, she never missed one if she could help it. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping with family and friends. Making memories around a campfire always brought a smile to her face; Her talents in the kitchen brought a smile to everyone else’s. Cindy had an affinity for organization and loved to have a place for everything and everything in its place. She enjoyed entertaining guests, but it was the times surrounded by her family that brought her the most peace and happiness.

Gone but never forgotten, Cindy will forever live in the hearts of her family and friends. She leaves a loving husband, Tom Smith; two sons: Sam (Amanda) Smith and Jackson Smith; two grandchildren: Sylvia and Felix Smith; one brother, Greg Hardy; half siblings: Michelle (Rick) Campbell and Harvey (Julie) Klemm, Jr.; two step-sisters: Patti (Jerry) McCauley and Susan Wolfgram; as well as a family of friends.

She now joins her mother, Lorraine and her step-father, Harvey Klemm; and one step-sister, Gail Macias, who preceded her in death.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn, IL 60119.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.   Memories and tributes may be left on the Conley Funeral Home Facebook Page, or at www.conleycare.com
