Dave Carl Markel

July 26, 1933 - February 3, 2023

The world lost a gentle soul February third when Dave Markel died at DuPage Care Center in Wheaton, Illinois. Dave was well loved and will be missed by his wife Gerri of sixty six years. He is survived by his daughters, Pamela Mc Grew and Margaret Hanauer, his four grandchildren and four great grandchildren, who lovingly called him G.G. Pa. Dave loved his country and served four years in the Korean War. Dave had a servant’s heart. In past years he volunteered for many organizations including being a tutor for English as a second language in Elgin and St. Charles, Hessed House, Lazarus House the Salvation Army and his church St. John Neuman Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers a donation to any of the organizations he volunteered for would be appreciated. A Funeral Mass will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 10, 2023, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 2900 E. Main Street, St. Charles, Illinois 60174. A visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M.  to 11:00 A.M. preceding the mass.Burial will be private.Guest BookShareEmailPrint
