Dorothy Thoresen

November 18, 1933 - October 25, 2026

Dorothy Thoresen, 92, passed on to her Lord on October 25. She was greatly loved by her children, grandchildren and their families. She enjoyed singing in the choir at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Itasca for many decades, then joined the choir at Greenfields of Geneva after moving into the community. Her career spanned many different positions including secretary, executive secretary, customer service and finally, real estate agent in Itasca. She was a dedicated, loving mother and consummate host. Holidays were filled with joy, laughter, and always included extended family and friends. Dorothy had a sense of adventure that extended to travel with friends and family. She could be found cruising across the Atlantic for an extended European tour, flying to the Bahamas with the family, driving across country to see America the Beautiful from the Grand Canyon to the Redwood Forest, pulling a camper with the Ford Country Squire station wagon with real imitation wood grain on the sides. She developed and maintained lasting relationships with a rare group of friends, who met first with the church youth group and continued on with gatherings every couple of months for 60 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Thoralf. Survived by son James (Sarah Stupegia), daughters June, Ruthann (Todd Buehrer), three grandchildren, Ella Mazurek, Anika Thoresen, Nathaniel Buehrer and five nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M to 1:00 P.M. with Celebration of Life at 1:00 to 2:00 P.M.  on November 6th at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 E. Main St., St. Charles, IL.
