Doug “The Big Deal” Bogden, age 49, of Hinckley, IL, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday, August 14, 2022.

He was born February 11, 1973, in Aurora, IL, to proud and loving parents, Frank and Margaret Bogden.

Doug grew up in Sugar Grove, IL, and attended local schools. He graduated from Kaneland High School with the class of 1991. Before he received his diploma, Doug found success on the football field and fighting for a pin in wrestling. Doug was well liked and a friend to many within the halls of Kaneland, a trait that followed him the rest of his life. If you ever needed a friend, Doug was the kind you always needed.

Doug found work through Local 150 as a heavy equipment operator. At each stop, he made a name for himself and rose through the ranks, gaining respect and a reputation as a hard worker and dependable operator.

Doug was “The Big Deal” and he’d tell you as much as well, though he was also known as “Dougie” or “Hoss”. He was an outdoorsman at heart and enjoyed camping all year round, though his intelligence was questioned a time or two. He was the type of man who understood who he was, what he stood for and was comfortable in his own skin. It wasn’t uncommon for him to take off on his own, riding his beloved Harley Davidson, just because he could. Doug could be alone, but he was never lonely, cherishing the time he could spend by himself. His hands were rarely idle and were often found tinkering with projects galore in the garage. He was the first to lend a hand or to help someone in need. A friendship with Doug was a friendship for life. He loved his family and friends intensely. Doug was protective but never shied away from a really good prank, laughing loudly and often, many times punctuating the occasion with his signature, “F@#% Yeah!” His spirit held a strength unknown in most people, facing every challenge head on and without compunction. Even taking on the mantle of his cancer diagnosis barely scratched the surface of his resolve. Doug was larger than life, and so is the legacy he leaves. No one could forget him, and surely no one ever will.

He now leaves his children: Zachary and Zoey Bogden; his parents, Frank and Meg Bogden; two siblings: Nick (Terri) Bogden and Amy (Mitch) McCarney; several nieces and nephews: Alex (Devin) DeToni, Sarah Bogden, Haven McCarney, Emerson McCarney; many cousins and a family of friends who knew and loved “The Big Deal”.

He is now reunited with his son, Thomas Jace Bogden, who passed in infancy and both his maternal and paternal grandparents, a very good friend and hunting buddy, Jerold, who lost his battle with ALS but who always had Doug in his corner.

A memorial visitation will be Sunday, August 21, 2022, at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn, IL, from 2-6 p.m.

Burial that was previously scheduled will be postponed. Further details will follow when a date has been chosen.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Charities at www.stjude.org. Memories and tributes may be left on the Conley Funeral Home Facebook Page, or at www.conleycare.com.
