FRANK V. SLEPICKA
Date of BirthAugust 21, 1931 Date of DeathJune 13, 2024 Frank V. Slepicka, 92, of Maple Park, IL, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Frank was born on August 21, 1931 to proud parents, Frank and Evelyn Slepicka. From the age of 10 years old, Frank lived in Carol Stream, IL on a farm with his family. After graduating from high school, Frank answered the call of his country and as a U.S. Army 1st Lieutenant, Frank served in Germany for two and half years. He was honorably discharged in June of 1958. After receiving his Bachelor of Science degree from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, he was employed by Chicago Rawhide and Caterpillar Tractor before using that degree in Industrial Technology Education. Later he also earned a Master’s degree in education at Northern Illinois University while still teaching. He worked at Chicago Public Schools, first at Schurz High School as a machine shop teacher and later at Cure High School as a metals shop teacher. Frank was known for his creative projects and students winning recognition at CPS exhibits and shows, including building a lathe. Besides his passion for teaching, he wore another cap as a partner in his mother and father’s grain farming operation and dairy cows in DuPage County, where Slepicka Homestead Park now stands on five of the original acres. It lives on as a Carol Stream park for senior citizens, with community gardens, trails and a portion of the pond he built. A silo has window displays of historical artifacts. The family continues to farm on family land near Elburn, IL. He was a member of Alpha Delta Phi Fraternity, Urbana-Champaign. Frank is the beloved husband of Claire (Bolling) Slepicka for 58 years, the proud father of Frank Bolling Slepicka, Nancy Slepicka Fehr (Robert) Reppe, Timothy Bolling (Elva) Slepicka and James Bolling (Kristine Hinrichs) Slepicka. He is the proud grandfather of 11 grandchildren: Caitlyn, Shane and Skyler-Byrne-Slepicka, Eleanor and Shawn Reppe, Samuel, George and Frances Slepicka, Laura Evelyn, and James Slepicka. He has cousins that he also loves and remembers his faithful dog companion “Ollie”. He is predeceased by his parents, Frank O. Slepicka and Evelyn Vrhel Slepicka. Services have already been held.
