July 16, 1929 - September 11, 2021

Georgia Myrlena Gill, age 92, of St. Charles passed away peacefully Saturday, September 11, 2021 at her home surrounded by family. She was born July 16, 1929 in Cushman, Arkansas to John and Mary Walker. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Owen Gill, on Christmas Eve, 1948. She was slow to anger and filled with unfaltering love and that is how she raised her children.  She was a help mate and partner to her husband and they maintained two successful business.  She was a true country girl at heart. It is said that you can take the girl out of the country, but not the country out of the girl. After living in Illinois for 67 years she never lost that southern accent. She was a lover of country music, especially Jonny Cash, Alan Jackson, and Vince Gill. She was a great southern cook with biscuits and gravy, chicken and dumplings and fried peach pies. She always had room for one more at the table. She was a talented seamstress, no pattern needed. Although she was accomplished in many things, her greatest joy in life was her family. She truly led by example. She loved god and remained one of his faithful children. If the definition of a lady in were in Webster’s dictionary there would be a picture of Georgia. Mrs. Gill is survived by three children; Gail (Dan) Brown, Sharon Gill and Michael (Kathleen) Gill all of St. Charles, four grandchildren; Bethany (Vito) Brandonisio  Jordan (Hillary) Brown, Owen Gill and Mikenna Gill, three great grandchildren; Vito Brandonisio, Faith Brandonisio and Charles Brown, a sister, Faye Townsend, a sister-in-law, Bert Overfield and several cherished nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Owen C. Gill, her parents, a brother, J.W. Walker, Jr. Funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, September 25th at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 East Main Street, St. Charles.  Burial will be at Union Cemetery, St. Charles.  Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.  Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 55 East Monroe Street, Suite 3420, Chicago, Illinois 60603 or to the American Heart Association, 300 South River Plaza, Chicago, Illinois 60606Guest BookShareEmailPrint
