August 9, 1938 - January 3, 2026

Jimmie Pat Robinson, aged 87 went home to The Lord on Saturday, January 3rd, after suffering a major heart attack on Monday, January 29th. Jimmie Pat was born August 9th, 1938, the third and youngest son of Alma and Ray Robinson in Bogue Chitto Mississippi. They raised their boys on a 40-acre lot in Moaks Creek Ms. They farmed, the old-fashioned way, walking behind a mule and a plow. They harvested by hand, cotton, beans and corn and anything else they grew. They had a modest kitchen garden close to the house for goodies like watermelon. The boys woke early to milk cows and gather eggs before school. The family attended Moaks Creek Baptist church where Alma and Ray taught Sunday school. They went to church twice on Sundays and once on Wednesday. Jimmie had a firm foundation of faith that carried him through all his days. Jim graduated from one of less than 20 in his class. He was smart, and he wanted more. To see more life, more of the world. He went into the service from 1961 to 1963 and gained a bit of life experience. He followed his brothers up to Chicago to work for the railroad. He remembered the sound of that far off train whistling blowing and dreaming about what the people were like and where they were going. Jim’s brothers married nice Catholic girls and soon it was his turn. He married Darlene Teresa Bek November18th 1967. Jim decided that he would work at the railroad during the day and go to school at night. He earned a degree and soon worked for Bell Labs then At&T, which turned into Lucent Technologies until he retired. He enjoyed his time with his wife and gardening, growing many vegetables for his family and neighbors. He loved to work in his yard. The hotter and more humid, the better. It reminded him of home, Mississippi. JIm helped out his daughter, any way he could, discussing potential homes and looking at them with his daughter and her husband. He helped clean said home and did repairs. He gave financial advice and was always willing to listen and guide with patience. He was wise and generous with his knowledge. When grandchildren were adopted, he was all in. Babysitting, driving, playing, reading, and instilling that Biblical foundation. Jim Pat was always a steady presence in the kids’ lives. He attended games, recitals and school functions proudly with his wife Darlene. Jimmie Pat is survived by his wife of 58 years Darlene Robinson, Daughter Theresa Marie Robinson Hughes, Son in law Jeff Hughes, Grandsons Gavan James Mathias Hughes and Jonathan David Raymond Hughes, Granddaughter Ashley Marie Nicole Hughes, grandson Nathaniel Michael Patrick Hughes, Granddaughter Meadow Grace Lynn Hughes, and many nieces, Nephews, grand and great grand nieces and nephews as well. The highlight of Jim’s year was going to his Nephew Mike’s and his wife Ellen’s Christmas party. Thankfully he attended December 20th, 2025, and was so filled with love and joy to do so. He loved seeing his brothers’ children and their families. What a precious time we all had. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday January 10th 10:00 am at Yurs Funeral Home of Geneva at 1771 W. State Street, Geneva Il 60134. Josh Ingalls Of Christ Community Church in St Charles Il will lead the service beginning at 12:00 noon A luncheon will follow at Mio Modo 200 S 2nd Street St. Charles Il 60134 All are welcome to attend.
