Date of Birth

September 24, 1939

Date of Death

July 7, 2024

Jodeen K. Byerhof, 84, of Elburn, IL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 7, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on September 24, 1939, in Aurora, IL, to proud parents, Leslie and Lorraine Williams (nee Strobert).

Jodeen grew up in Elburn and attended local schools, graduating from Elburn High School with the class of 1957. Following high school, she worked at Furnas Electric for four years before she began working for Gliddon’s Drug Store. Jodeen worked briefly for Northern F.S. before beginning a 27 year career at Kane Co. Bank and Trust in Elburn. After retiring from the business side of the bank in 1993, she helped a friend and later took on cleaning duties until they moved to their present location on the north side of town in 1997.

Jodeen was united in marriage to Wayne Byerhof on August 8, 1980 in Belvidere, IL. They began their new life together in Elburn where Jodeen continued to work at the bank and where Wayne was a Sergeant on the Elburn Police Department.

Jodeen has been a long time member of the Community Congregational Church of Elburn, and was an original charter of Elburn Ambulance. She also had the distinction of being the first female member and the first female Certified EMT. She served as a dedicated volunteer until 1988 when she retired from active service but still served the county until her final retirement in 2002.

Jodeen was quite an athlete and had an admirable softball career.  She played on numerous teams over the years and made many lifelong friends on the many teams she played on.  Jodeen loved to spend time teeing off on the green with her husband Wayne and her grandson Troy.  Jodeen was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan and she rooted for them rain or shine.  She was overjoyed to see them win the World Series during her lifetime. She thoroughly enjoyed quilting and many of her family members have pieces she has quilted that they will cherish forever.  Jodeen loved to make cookies and candies for her family and friends at Christmas time and she was known best for her amazing peanut brittle. Jodeen was an easy going, kind hearted, happy-go-lucky woman, who was a friend to everyone she met.  Her family will forever cherish their memories of her and she will be dearly missed.

Jodeen leaves behind her three step-children; Jeffrey (Cindy) Byerhof, Mark (April) Byerhof, and Mary (Brian) Krueger, her 9 grandchildren; Jessica (Seth) Whitfield, Caleb (Amber) Byerhof, Courtney Byerhof, Shira Ealey, Christopher Ealey, Brekk Callaway, Joseph Byerhof, Cody Byerhof, Troy (Carla) Krueger, many great grandchildren, her three brothers Dennis Williams, Donald (Jennifer) Williams, and Ronald (Carol) Williams, many nieces and nephews, and a whole family of friends.

She is reunited with her parents, Leslie and Lorriane Williams, her husband of 40 years, Wayne Byerhof, and her sister, Donna Clayton.

A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2024 from 10:00a.m. to 12:00p.m. at Conley Funeral Home in Elburn, IL.  A memorial service will immediately follow the visitation at 12:00p.m. also at Conley Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to The Alzheimer’s Association in Jodeen’s memory via the following link https://www.alz.org Tributes may also be left on the Conley Funeral Home Facebook Page, or at www.conleycare.com.
