February 22, 1960 - April 2, 2026

John G. Frick, age 66, of Oak Park, Illinois, died Thursday, April 2, 2026. He was born in St. Charles, Illinois, on February 22, 1960. Johnny worked as a pharmacist for over forty years, beginning his career after graduating from pharmacy school at the University of Illinois. He was dedicated to his work and the people he served throughout his long career. Johnny was a lifelong Cubs and Bears fan who was rarely without his portable radio — known to the family as “Pat & Ron.” He would listen to the radio even while watching the game on television. His devotion to his teams never wavered. Johnny was a devoted father and husband who passed down important traditions to his family, and around whom new traditions were built. He shared his love of the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park, Colorado, with his wife and sons, where they vacationed every summer growing up. The entire family also traveled to Iowa every summer to help run the Phyllis’ bicycle business. Johnny loved to cook and barbeque on his Big Green Egg. He also loved to paint and bike, hobbies he shared with his wife Phyllis. They ran many marathons together and traveled cross country by bicycle. The two of them frequently brought the dogs to a cabin at Shale Lake in Staunton, Illinois to paint. Johnny loved his dogs, starting with Molly, who was Wesley and Myles’ childhood dog; followed by Sadie, who kept Johnny and Phyllis company when the boys went off to college; then Ralphy, who they inherited when Wesley moved out to buy a condo in the city. Johnny cherished Kramer and Frankie, their two current dogs. He would sit for hours with Frankie on his lap. Phyllis and Johnny would text each other pictures whenever Frankie got up to something. To help support Phyllis’ growing art business, Johnny would take the dogs for hours-long walks to keep them out of the way while Phyllis conducted art classes for children in their home. He also played golf and guitar, hobbies he was passing down to his son Myles. In the evenings, Frankie would throw her stuffed monkey down at Johnny’s feet to tell Johnny it was “Monkey Time”. They would all go into the living room, where Johnny would play guitar and sing to Phyllis, Frankie, and Kramer. Johnny is survived by his wife, Phyllis Frick; his sons, Wesley Leggette and Myles Leggette; Wesley’s husband, Conrad Zhuang, and their son, Callum; Myles’s wife, Kati Danforth, and their children, Elliott and Genevieve; his brother, Robert G. Frick; and his nephews, Andrew G. Frick and Thomas G. Frick. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marion; his father, Richard; his stepmother, Susie; and his sister-in-law, Susan. All are invited to Johnny’s wake and funeral.  For further information please call Yurs Funeral Home St. Charles. 630-584-0060Guest BookShareEmailPrint
